Description

On the southern slopes of Mount Etna, in the town of Mascalucia in the province of Catania, there is a harmonious complex of ancient buildings and gardens, built in the 18th century by the Rapisard barons of Sant'Antonio, with a central late Baroque villa, protected by the Department of Cultural Heritage, inside a charming courtyard. This piece of Etna's history was given a new lease of life in 2003 through the renovation of the property, under the direction of the architect Gianni Branciforti from Catania.

An island of tranquility in the old city center, aia Teatro, a quiet and secluded but not remote place. This historic, square-shaped villa, accessed via Via Teatro, consists of five residential buildings. The main house, garden house, baron house, Donna Petra's house and Oleander's house are arranged around a square courtyard overlooking the gardens and a small garden at the back. They are divided into hallways, niches, a beautiful vaulted dining room, 19th century stucco ceilings, a large fireplace, lava stone windows and a kitchen in the former family chapel.

Two roof terraces with views of Etna to the north and to the south - the rooftops of old Mascalucci, Catania and the sea. Sicilian stone kitchens are enameled and decorated with traditional majolica. On the other side of the narrow Via Teatro, part of the property is reserved for recreation and sports. The terracotta pool is set in the garden, surrounded by walnuts and peppers, palm trees and gazebos of ancient vines.

Gym / exercise room with a 7 meter high ceiling with large open space, two bathrooms and a small bar on the ground floor and two rooms on the second floor. This part of the property also includes an apartment of 60 sq. m, known as the pool house, overlooking the lower part of the garden, garage / storage room and palmento (58 sqm small room used for pressing grapes), the only building that has not been renovated.

There is also a parking space for five cars.
The villa is conveniently located under a volcano, close to Catania, the airport and the Ionian coast, just 45 minutes from Taormina in the north and Syracuse in the south.
